NYC Subway Scene

FREEEDOM! I can almost taste it. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do but I'm so beat from this quarter!

I'm proud to present my final for my Materials and Lighting class (the basement scene was for this class!). My NYC Subway scene was voted best of the bunch unanimously from my teacher and fellow students. This is the result of roughly 70 hours of non-stop work. I got up for food, bathroom breaks, and to play with my nephews for a few seconds.

My wishlist: I 'd love to see decals/stickers, graffitti tags, and a nasty grime layer with gum smudges and general subway funk everywhere! I'll add these in over the break for my own pleasure (^_~).

I decided to add in a snapshot with the geometry selected. You can see exactly how simple the model itself is. It's all about the textures and lighting!!

I really like the shadows and the lighting, I do need to adjust the alignment of some of the support beams. If you look closely you can see two misalligned (they're on top of the tile (-_-;) I was too tired to do a thorough flight check!

The train is just screaming for an alpha over the windows so you can see into the car. At a later date I'd like to model the interior of the train. The doors actually open and close so I might add in an animation as well.

I hope you enjoyed the post! I'll be adding my final snapshots of the NYC loft soon!

Loft Updates!

So here's an update of my Loft! I still have a ways to go though, in this assignment I'm restricted from applying shadow and light in scene. Yikes! It's a challenge, but I'm up for it!! I still need to add in Vertex Paint to compensate for the lack of shadows... stay tuned for another update soon w/ shadows!

* Hidden Easter Egg for those that know me well: Amelie is sitting on top of the coffee table!

I thought I'd leave this shot in. I think it's a trip to see what happens when your hardware fails on ya! *Meh- a burned out graphics card -tsk tsk.. I need a new system!
